Custer County Road & Bridge Equipment Operator
Custer County is accepting employment applications for Two (2) full-time or part-time Equipment Operators. Under general supervision of the Road Boas &/or Assistant Road Boss. Operate a variety of heavy and light equipment to perform construction and maintenance of the County roads and bridges. Operate with considerable independence requiring sound judgment and initiative. Position is subject to involuntary overtime and/or compensation time in addition to the normal 40-hour work week for events and snow removal or emergency situations. Position requires a current Class A Colorado Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a tanker endorsement or ability to obtain one and a current medical card required, is subject to department of transportation (DOT) re-employment, random and post-accident drug testing.

Child Welfare/APS Supervisor
Custer County is accepting applications for a Child Welfare/APS Supervisor. This is a full-time, exempt position with a salary of Min $65,249 - Max $94,598 annually / DOQ, including benefits.

A summary of responsibilities include but not limited to:
To directly manage Case Workers in our Adult Protective Services Division. The Adult Protection Supervisor will coach, lead and mentor staff as well as have responsibility for the development, planning and assignment of cases. They will demonstrate exemplary leadership, flexibility and have experience empowering staff and managing a diverse workforce. They will be able to set aside personal convictions when it's in the best interest of the child while showing a thorough understanding and dedication to the highest standards of practice.
Investigates allegations of mistreatment for at-risk adults 18 years of age and older, and provides ongoing case management services and coordinates resources and services with various community providers to include 24-hour scheduled on-call responsibilities in rotation with other casework staff. Perform professional case work services for Child Welfare cases and Adult Protective Services, including case management, counseling, referral, placement, and assessment/evaluation. This includes investigation, assessment, case management, service coordination and financial management for disabled and/or elderly adults at risk of abuse, neglect and exploitation
Provides intake and/or ongoing professional casework services to families where child abuse or neglect is present or suspected, to include 24-hours scheduled on-call responsibilities in rotation with other casework staff.
Plans, assigns, and reviews the activities of case workers performing case management
functions and recommends changes in practices and procedures to increase operating
efficiency and expedite workflow.
Participates in the development of long range and short-term plans and goals for the
assigned area, establishes and/or monitors current methods and policies, and keeps
management level personnel abreast of trends and issues in the field and in the
department.
Screens cases initially to determine level of risk to individuals/families and eligibility for
services/programs, assigns cases, meets with social case workers to discuss status of
cases, problems encountered, basis for actions, and alternative solutions, reviews and
discusses progress of cases and worker & reports, and provides technical guidance and
direction in unusual and non-standard situations.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related behavioral sciences field (Psychology, Sociology, Counseling, or a related field) required or education waiver granted by Colorado Department of Human Services, as initiated by the local county DHS office. A Master’s Degree is preferred.
In order to meet the educational requirements of a human behavioral science degree, the major course work (equivalent to 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours) in either development of human behavior, child development, family intervention techniques, diagnostic measures or therapeutic techniques.
Three or more years of case practice experience in child welfare.

Child Support Specialist
Custer County is accepting applications for a Child Support Specialist. This is a full-time , non-exempt position with a wage of $21.63/hr - $31.63/hr DOQ, including benefits.

A summary of the responsibilities of this position include but not limited to:

Conducts interviews with custodial and non-custodial parents.

Accesses system data, including the state specific system(s), and appropriate internet resources to obtain relevant case information.

Prepares cases and the necessary legal and/or administrative documents for review and approval by staff attorney and/or administrator/supervisor designee.

Monitors cases for delinquencies and modifications and takes enforcement actions, as appropriate.

Calculates current child support amounts in accordance with Child Support Guidelines and DHS rules and regulations.

Calculates child support arrears and other financial adjustments.

Completes necessary analysis and child support calculations to ensure child support payments are distributed and disbursed in accordance with state, federal, and contractual requirements.

Responds to telephone inquiries and attends to requests for service from walk-in customers, in a professional manner. Accesses automated case records and provide case status information to customers, as necessary.

Records in the automated and/or hard copy case file all necessary information related to the establishment and/or enforcement of a child support obligation.

Adult Protection / Child Welfare Case Worker
Custer County is accepting applications for the Adult Protection/Child Welfare Case Worker position. The primary responsibilities of this role include but not limited to:
Adult Protection Duties:

Develop and implement case plans to address clients’ physical, mental, financial, social, and behavioral needs while promoting safety.

Maintain knowledge of available community resources and provide this information to clients and customers.

Handles crisis intervention, family mediation, and coordination of services and resources.
Child Welfare Duties:

Conduct community investigations in response to reports of child abuse, neglect, or significant family disruptions involving youth in conflict or those adjudicated as delinquents, and make recommendations to the Child Welfare Manager.

Develop plans to ensure the safety of children, strengthen families, and promote permanency for children, and submit these plans for supervisor approval.

Respond 24/7 to reports of abuse or neglect and provide crisis intervention, following the caseworker’s on-call schedule and addressing other departmental emergencies as needed.

Special Requirements:
Successful completion of CDHS-mandated annual training required to maintain employment.
License or Certification Required:
A current driver’s license as travel may be required, as well as a background check.
Elements of Contact:
Personal contact with members of the public is familiar. Some situations may require exchanging documents, money, personal property, etc. Face-to-face verbal communication between members and individuals is often necessary. Contact with blood, body fluids, or other medical hazards is rare for members. However, members should have sufficient time to take precautionary and protective measures when necessary.
